Good mornin-afternoo-vening, dear Steemians and welcome to a fresh gameplay commentary video for Haque.
Haque is a pixelart, roguelike RPG that features randomized levels, and some pretty cool gameplay mechanics, but the thing that definitely stands out is the art style.
A couple of static shots really don’t do it enough justice so make sure you watch my video so that you can see how cool your range of sight is illustrated while exploring the dungeons, as well as the fun and smooth animations when enemies simply explode on the screen once you defeat them.
Another reason for actually watching the video is so that you can also give a listen to the music and sound of the game.
All the game-related sounds are wonderfully retro-inspired but when it comes to the music the game has something different in store. I think they were going for a bit of a Bastion-inspired sort of thing, because the music is mainly an acoustic guitar with some other bells and whistles here and there. It sounds as if it was recorded in someone’s closet, but not in the sense that it sounds bad, but just that it has a particular tone to it. The main idea is that it works great with the game’s aesthetic and gameplay.
Despite what I say in the video the game will actually release TOMORROW, so make sure to add it to your wishlists if you’re reading this on the 22nd of November. :)
