I'm obviously addicted to Steemit.
When I found Steemit 7 months ago, I couldn't focus on my other jobs (I had 2 freelance writing clients), so I quit them and went full-throttle with Steemit, almost losing my mind.
Like all addictions, the addict tries to quit at some point.
I reached that point last month and I did take a vacation from Steemit for a while. I felt like too much negative stuff was happening in here and it was full of noise. And I was getting tired of the whole experience, mainly because I was OD'ing on it.
Then came the realization......
Oh shit, I don't have a job!
Then the next thought: I'm an idiot repeating the same patterns that have nearly destroyed me before: shiny object syndrome.
Then the review process began anew: what I like about Steemit vs. what I don't like.
Where am I now?
The quality and value of the posts continue to improve and give me hope. All the new changes are also a positive sign.
I'm addicted again and I've fired up the Kool Aid drink machine! I'm in!
Dan's last post helped me re-imagine what Steemit is and my role within it. To be honest, most people are quitting Steemit because they feel worthless in Steemit. As users on this platform, we do need to be reminded that we are helping to build this platform, and that we matter. When I first joined Steemit, I had the long-term vision emblazoned on my chest. Somehow, along the way, I believe I got lost in the short-term reward Scooby Snack model that first addicted me. And I also began to feel devalued as a creator. Now, I have a different strategy that mitigates negativity.
I'm creating a new long-term strategy and treating my blog page in Steemit as if it were my own website.
It will be a place to do business in the future, provide information, provide a unique voice and also, it's a place where I hope newbies feel free to ask me questions. I'm once again taking the long-term build approach, thanks to Dan for reminding me about the startup nature of Steemit.
Now I can go make cupcakes since this is the 3rd post of the day.
Also, if you didn't know, I sent out the Steem Gnome to a few days ago so look for his update. I've also been making Steemit commercials:
