The STEEMIT NEWBIES Facebook Page is now a thing.
Here's the Page: https://www.facebook.com/steemitnewbies
A brand-new Facebook Page called STEEMIT NEWBIES has been launched in order to provide personalized help to those who are still in the Facebook world, but who want to learn and shift to Steemit. There are many Steemit Facebook groups already in existence, but most are just a place where people post their links. They have quite low user engagement because most everyone in them is trying to figure out how to get their posts noticed. So, they just post links, which in the end just creates a lot of noise, to be totally honest. Meaningful discussions are absent in these Steemit Facebook groups.
So, in order to fill the void that currently exists in the area of helping newbies understand Steemit and address their valid questions and concerns, the Steemit Newbies Facebook Page has been launched.
It is designed to help those who need it.
And if there is one place I understand really well, it is Facebook. I've created many business Facebook Pages for entrepreneurs and activists as well. I used to be a Facebook addict.
While I realize it might be a pipe dream to ask people not to just post their links in Steemit Newbies, if people can ask specific questions, then more people can engage and learn while they're in a comfortable environment: Facebook.
Going where people already are and addressing their true questions, concerns and frustrations can, hopefully create more user retention on Steemit.
I'm willing to spend my time trying to help people with their concerns, questions and frustrations, as I think Steemit will gain a better understanding of why people choose to leave Steemit for Facebook.
Everyone can bash Facebook as much as they want, but the reality is that people have returned there after abandoning Steemit. I want to figure out a way to help people come back. I'm working on 3+ projects right now at once in Steemit, and so if I get swamped trying to deal with the Steemit Newbies Facebook Page, I will ask for help for other admins. Right now, the traffic is low since it was just created. I like helping others learn so this is something I enjoy doing.
And there is one more reason to develop it: once Steemit creates communities, this group can transfer over here, and create a nice, cozy, comfortable place inside Steemit where newbies can help each other learn. Additionally, I've given my proposal to teach a Steemit class to high school students through the public library system. I have taught classes on YouTube for these after school library classes and one of my friends works as a planner for these classes. I am waiting to hear back from her. The Facebook Page would be very helpful in addressing students' needs as they learn about Steemit in my future class. I hope that the library director approves it.
Today, there was one question to which I don't have the answer:
Is Steemit planning on supporting native file formats like: .AVI, .MP3, .MPEG in the future? If you have the answer to this, please comment below so I can transfer the answer over.
Thanks for your attention,
Stellabelle
ps- oddly enough, has also created a Steemit Facebook page with a similar, almost identical mission.
pss- If Steemit Inc wants to change the branding or whatever, let me know. I just used the baby and neutral design because I know everything is changing.
