When I got to know about bitcoin and other cryptocurrency was back in the year 2016, during the rise of online ponzi scheme that made use of bitcoin for transactions. Among which were MMM-Nigeria, MMM-United and many more. They all claim to be a peer to peer mutual funding platform, where members send money to other members which is known as "provide help" (PH) and members receive money from other members which is known as "get help" (GH) within a duration of 30 days with a percentage in profit added to the initial amount used in providing help (PH). MMM-Nigeria was said to be operated by a Russian known as Mavrodi, the platform offers a percentage profit of 30% in naira while a profit of 40% in bitcoin. The platform operated for two (2) years before it collapsed.
MMM-United lured members to its platform by offering a 100% return in profit, the platform collapsed in less than six (6) months into operation. Almost all who participated in the ponzi scheme lost their money to it, at a time the Federal Government estimated the amount lost to MMM-Nigeria alone amounted to billions of naira, despite the fact that the Federal Government of Nigeria had warned Nigerians not to participate in the scheme. MMM-United was the platform which I admired so I participated on the platform as a member. I ended up losing over a $100 worth of bitcoin. My pain and that of others was not quite easy to bear.
After all the regret, distress, sadness, grief, anguish, pain and mental torture that emanated from my loss in MMM-United, I had no option but to move on with life but just as human, I find it difficult to stop thinking about my loss. At the crash of those ponzi schemes, Nigerians began to see bitcoin or any other thing related to bitcoin as a ponzi scheme but my interest for bitcoin did not die with the ponzi scheme so I went further to know more about bitcoin and how to make the most out of it, that lead me into learning cryptocurrecy trading,
though am still learning, my area of learning covers mertigale trading techniques, chart trading (reading Japanese Candlestick Pattern), technical analysis and fundamental analysis, wave trading (Eliot waves and effective use of it) momentum trading and working through the spread.
I got to know about Steemit through the biggest online forum in Nigeria known as Nairaland
The idea behind Steemit is a blessing from the world of cryptocurency to the world how I wish facebook will do the same
