Voluntarism is sacrifice.
There are 2 related manifestations of hypocrisy related to voluntarism:
- The good work for the bad, while the bad preach for it and refrain from acting on their words.
- In a pretense of voluntarism, the pretender works to achieve own goals, while pretending to do for the good of another's.
In voluntarism the good get fucked, instead of everyone. Good and bad.
Should taking the good and fucking them be favored over fucking everyone? Is it more just?
It discriminates against the good.
It strengthens an already existing evolutionary pressure against the good.
It relieves the government from some of its good responsibilities, allowing it more resources for its bad goals.
If this is what you want to achieve, go volunteer yourself.
Thought about using the tag altruism, but am limited to 5 tags.
A similar, almost identical thread could be posted about altruism.
It should be done too, both to catch more search results and because there are differences.
Both arguments will be similar, but may not be identical.
Edit:
I am stunned by comments and replies to me from the comments section.
I thought that people know what the word volunteer means both as a verb and as a noun.
But I thought wrong, so I have to clarify the obvious:
As a verb, to volunteer means not only to act out of consent, but also supposedly to do so without material reward, ideally.
As a noun, a volunteer is one that volunteers according to the definition of the same word as a verb.
I hope that my explanation is clear enough.
I did not expect that I will have to explain the word.
It enlengthens the text.
