Welcome to another episode of Look What I Found! Today I'd like to share with you four posts with completely different subjects, but each of them interesting to exciting in their own way.
Leather Obtained from Mushrooms by
Did you know that mushrooms can make leather? Well, since we're not talking about their fruiting bodies it's more appropriate to call them fungi, but in any case: They can grow into something resembling leather. Great news for vegetarians, vegans, or anyone who doesn't like the idea of using the skin of dead animals for the myriad of purposes leather is ideal for. I heard that kombucha can grow into fabric you can make clothes out of, but this fungal leather is completely new to me.
Making a Lovely Fruit Tart … WITH THE SUN by
I'm a big fan of fruit tarts, and the one made sure looks tasty. But that is not what makes this post with the video in it so interesting. It's the way it was made, using a solar oven. The sun heats things, we all knew that, but there is a way how this heat can be concentrated to actually cook and bake food with it. It's not too complicated either. Having experimented quite a bit with solar stoves and ovens with mixed results, I'm super psyched to see a commercial one perform so well. Really worth to watch it, and even more to get inspired by it...
S.M.A.R.T Goals Aren't So Smart – Why they miss the mark. by
From the personal development front comes this excellent article about setting goals. Many of us may have heard of the S.M.A.R.T. method of setting goals, meaning they should be specific, measurable, achievable, result-focused, and time-bound. however points out quite well a major shortcoming of this method, why it could potentially cause a great deal of frustration, and how to modify it so that it won't. I could not agree more, and can only recommend you to take glance at it.
Hungarian Oven Bread by
Finally, here's a recipe for a food I remember well growing up. calls it oven bread, but I'll just show my cultural insensitivity and call it pizza. It is traditionally made in big earthen ovens, but I'm sure it would taste just a lovely coming from
's solar oven... or any modern electric one, why not. In any case, the recipe with the many pictures documenting the process just made my mouth water, so I had to share this post. Hope you'll like it and try making it at home. You won't regret it!
So, this is it for today. But don't worry, there will be lots of other interesting articles I'll be sharing with you soon, in the next issue of Look What I Found!
