Happy Halloween! Sadly, I have no Halloween art this year because I am doing something else for the holiday but I won't be able to finish it until tomorrow. Even so, I will still finish the Halloween project. Lol. For now, I thought of writing about converting Steem on Steemit to Hive.
I know I should've done this months ago but I was quite clueless back then on how to use Hive Engine. I am not very familiar with the technical side of crypto and such platforms as my poor brain can barely comprehend all of it. 😂 (..but I'm trying) I've decided to convert my Steem to Hive so I could have more Hive to power up on the Hive Power Up Day which happens every first day of the month. If you are not familiar with it, you can see this post: ANNOUNCEMENT POST - Hive Power Up Day, November 1st 2020
I've already done a few conversions weeks ago to test but this is going to be the last one so why not write about it. I even converted my SBD which I thought would no longer get converted. Lol.
Well, most of the users probably have already converted their steem to hive months ago but who knows, there might still be someone out there who still haven't converted their coins because they're not sure how to do it.
If you're one of the people I'm referring to, then you've come to the right place, my friend! Because I will be showing you step by step how I converted my Steem to Hive through a three-part post. The first part will cover how to transfer or deposit your Steem to Hive Engine.
Depositing STEEM to Hive Engine
STEP 1: Go to Hive Engine Website
First step, is to go to the Hive Engine website. Click on "Wallet" on the menu on top if you are directed to this page. Then on the Wallet page, click the "Deposit" button.
STEP 2: Choose The Crypto You Are Depositing
A pop up window will appear and on the drop down menu, pick Steem(STEEM). Then click on the "GET DEPOSIT INFO" button.
You will then see the details needed to be entered to e ale to transfer Steem to Hive Engine. Please take note of the account and memo.
STEP 3: Go to Your Steemit Wallet
Go to your wallet on Steemit and click the tiny arrow beside your Steem. On the drop down menu, click on "Transfer".
This window will pop up where you will fill out the details for the transfer. Make sure you have copied the details provided from the Hive Engine website correctly for a smooth transaction. You don't want your Steem to go missing, don't you? For the amount, you can just click the "Balance" text and the amount will automatically appear on the Amount text field. But if you're not feeling lazy or maybe you don't want to transfer everything yet, you can manually input the amount if you like.
Once you have doubled check the details, click the "Next" button.
A confirmation window will pop up because people can be careless sometimes and press some buttons accidentally so this window will butt in to ask you if you are really sure of what you're doing.
Of course, check again the details. We can never be too careful, you know.
Click the "Ok" button after double checking.
Another window will pop up where you will enter you're active or owner key or master password to be sure that it is you who is making the transaction. Or you can use the keychain extension if you have.
Click the "Sign In" button next.
STEP 4: Return to Hive Engine
Go back to the Hive Engine website and your Steem should appear in your wallet as SWAP.STEEM. It might take a few minutes before your Steem gets transferred to your wallet so you have to be a little patient. In my case, my steem appeared on my wallet within 3 minutes.
And that's how easy you can transfer your Steem to Hive Engine. For the second part, I will write about how to sell your Steem to Hive. Good morning!
