Hi Steemit! My name is Laura Lopez, and I’m building a new kind of media company.
I’ve spent nearly a decade in the entertainment industry editing reality television and recently moved to Oakland to refocus my career on making original content and videos for clients of all kinds. I also have a YouTube channel where I make a lot of videos about cryptocurrency topics, cats, and other items of interest like video game festivals and my friends’ fun nerdy projects.
I’ve been waiting for the ability to monetize my own content with cryptocurrency micropayments for ages.
I've been an involved member of the crypto community since 2011. Having been a fan of bitcoin/ether/etc for so long, I knew something like Steemit would show up one day. My experience with my YouTube channel taught me that even with one moderately successful video (~750k views to date), and a bunch of other content, the money I made was so little as to not make any impact on my life, despite all the time and effort that I invest in making my content, which a lot of people love! My long-term goal is to make high production value content for communities like Steemit, and hopefully make a living, or at least a supplemental income, doing so.
I also give introductory-level Bitcoin classes.
I've been giving occasional informal Bitcoin classes at CRASH Space in Los Angeles for the past year. I’m working on a new Micropayments for Content Creators class that I hope to start giving in San Francisco sometime in October, so I can onboard as many creators as I can to this new and amazing way of doing things. I tend to use Bitcoin as a starting point to explain things, since that's what most people have heard of, but of course now I'll be mentioning Steemit extensively.
Here’s a little intro video I made to verify myself and give you an idea of what I’m planning to post on Steemit in the future.
Looking forward to the future!
