Based on current Steem and SBD prices at the writing of this post, I have earned the equivalent of 668.34 USD over the last 30 days. Woohoo!
About 30 days ago, I set a goal of earning $100 a month on Steemit by March 2018. I am excited that I have met and exceeded my goal so quickly.
For more information about my original goal, click here.
The following is an excerpt from the original post.
Characteristics of SMART Goals
| Specific | Since goals define the path we will take, it is important to make sure that goals are clearly written. |
| Measurable | "You can't manage what you don't measure." |
| Attainable | $100 a month is just the starting point for me. Next I will strive for $1,000, $10,000, and then even higher. |
| Relevant | I am trying to earn online because of my appreciation for Steemit (as a platform and a community) as well as some online projects that I already have in the works. |
| Time Bound | I want to be earning $100 a month within 3 months (by March 1, 2018). |

STEEM = 26.443 x $6.35 = $167.91
SDB = 62.892 x $7.96 = $500.62
Total = $668.34
Estimated Value on December 5, 2017 (about the time I made the goal)
STEEM = 26.443 x $1.75 = $46.28
SBD = 62.892 x $ 2.25 = $141.51
Total = $187.79
Keys to Success!
The recent surge of Steem and SBD prices.
- This was an unexpected factor in my recent success.
- But even without the recent price increases, I would have still exceeded my goals.
Investing personal money into Steem.
- I took earnings from other cryptocurrencies and invested into more Steem Power.
- I believe that Steem has a bright future, and I look forward to watching the platform, community, and earnings grow.
Consistent Posting
- I have posted 5-6 times each week, usually with one to two posts per day.
- Consistent writing helps me create consistent contact with my followers and consistent payouts as well.
Consistent Engagement with new Steemit users.
- I have spent 4-5 days each week reaching out to 8-10 new Steemit users.
- I find new users in the IntroYourself tag. I write a short welcome comment, and I mention something that I connected with in their post.
Consistent, Engaging Comments
- I am trying to thoughtfully comment on posts that I care about.
- Sometimes I realize that I do not have any value to add to a post. If that is the case, I just more on. I choose not to contribute if I can not contribute well.
I decided to give away my Steem Markdown Course instead of selling it.
- I include a link to my course as a gift to new Steemit users.
- My course focuses on teaching Steemit users how to use Markdown to format their Steemit posts.
- It helps make your quality content look beautiful.
My Success is Not A Get Rich Quick Story!
I joined Steemit in June 2017. And like many of you, I have had my highs and lows. There have been times that I wanted to give up.
There have been times when I had to step away, but I have consistently come back to our community, because I believe in our community.
I have invested time and money. I have given of my self in my writings. My journey has not been without sacrifice.
But I want everyone to know (especially our newest members), that you will get out of Steemit what you put into it.
My advice:
- Take the time to build relationships and make connections with other people.
- Find successful people who have been on the platform longer than you and mirror their actions.
- Find new members who have not been here very long and reach out to them.
- Write engaging comments, and when you get tired of that, keep writing engaging comments.
- And once some people start following you, then start to share your voice with original posts.
Final Thoughts
I really loved Steemit. It has been life- changing for me, and I hope the same for you!
But your journey will take time and effort, so take the right amount of time to lay a strong foundation.
Start to dream big dreams, and start making SMART goals. And with your hard work and the support of our community, I know that you will find success. I know that you will learn from the experience of others. And I know that you will give back.

Let's continue the conversation in the comments.
- Why did you join Steemit?
- Do you have any Steemit goals?
- Will your current activities on Steemit help you reach your goals?
- What changes do you need to make?
