I was in the mood to sketch a little in between household chores and the activities of my offspring. I, for whatever reason, tend to start all of my people drawings with the nose.
The shape of the nose then determines the shape of the lips for me
and I build the face around those
then begin adding details
finishing with hair,
clothing, and any shading that feels right to round out the picture.
This sketch took me a total of 12 minutes to complete using Canson Universal Sketch and a Faber-Castell 3B pencil.
