Even with cold nights, the plants are tolerating the weather for the most part. The strawberry plants in the tower garden are coming back slowly.
I found this one with flowers on it already. The plants look peadked, and need to be fertilized this week. I did lose a few of the plants over the winter, and need to replace some of them.
It was time to bring the spinach tower garden out from the greenhouse. Then I plucked the largest leaves, cleaned them for a meal later this week.
Lettuce, got much? lol I planted too much at once and am having a hard time eating it all.
I'm still eating salad every day for my Keto diet, along with cottage cheese and avocado.
Hubby and I brought out the three grow bags with the potatoes in them. Now, they can grow on without being disturbed. I need to add some more soil into the bags, maybe later today.
Finally, I had enough energy to plant the last of the onions. In this raised frame are Walla Walla onions. They were the last tray that needed planting out.
Once that was done, I put hoops over the bed and put on shade cloth to protect them. It will help keep any last frost off them, too.
Hubby filled some 4" pots with soil mix, so I could get all the squash, cucumbers, melons, and vines started. They should sprout okay out in the greenhouse and be ready for planting out in the middle of May. I have to start the seeds instead of direct sowing due to a plethora of chipmunks and squirrels that dig up the seeds.
This morning, the eastern sun was highlighting the ferns that are unfurling.
The bleeding hearts are starting to bloom by the pond, and just bring a smile to my face knowing that they were my mom's plants. They are still coming back after 30 years, and remind me of how much she loved them.
This lonely tulip is still looking pretty good, considering all the rain we have been getting lately.
This bunch is almost ready to start dropping its petals. At least I got to enjoy them inside the veggie garden area, the deer can't get to them there.
That's it for today's garden journal update. Have a wonderful day, everyone.
