Dreams come true. Without that possibility, nature would not incite us to have them. - John Updike
Well go figure, John, I had this dream to visit one of the big WSL™️ (World Surf League) events one day!
Yesterday I booked my trip to Bali where I'll be witnessing the PROs fighting for the title of the Bali Pro Surf Competition 2018. Now it's not only a dream anymore.
It's going to be real, and I'll be right in the middle!

Make your dreams come true!
Yesterday I accidentally stumbled upon a video from the WSL™️ published on Facebook. It led me to the website WSL™️ Title Race where the current top four world leading surfers are presented during their fight for this season's title.
I had to watch the video about these four heroes a couple of times. To me the way they surf is pure art.
It seems that there is a new, younger surf generation taking over. The more estalished PROs Kelly Slater, Mick Fanning and and Joel Parkinson are not competing for a top ranking anymore. They're out of the picture.
These four are the future of surfing!
The best four in the world on their Title Race
Guess what happens next!
One day I will travel to one of these. - Marly
You need to speak your dreams out loud in order to make them come true!
My yesterday evening's Facebook statement
A couple of minutes after sharing the video and thinking about one of my lifetime dreams again, I wondered: 'Why not now?'
Then I started to do some research about the WSL™️ schedule 2018.
The list started with Quicksilver Pro in Australia, Oi Rio Pro Brazil, Bali Pro in Indonesia,... Wait! Bali?!
It was the perfect match! Bali has been on my radar for a while; all my surfing friends have been there already and are completely enthused about this place. Besides the surf opportunities it seems to be an incredibly beautiful destination with lots of amazing spots to visit and memorize. Also the food has to be outstanding.
To make it short: Bali is made for me.
Now everybody of you guys who has been to Bali and wants to share some travel experiences and tips with me, is kindly invited to do this.
Steemit's Bali expert no. 1 may be the very first person to get in contact with. Honey, we need to chat!! :-)
Now the idea was to be the closest possible to the surf competition, enabling me to witness the whole event. Yet, it seems that the venue itself - the Keramas Beach Resort and Club - is completely blocked for the competitors and their staff. At least online you can't book a room during the relevant time period. I sent them an email, so let's see if there's a chance to get in anyways.
I can see me right here! It would be beyond awesome to relax in this pool watching the PROs surfing the competition :-)

I guess it'll be hard to enter the venue and actually stay there during the competition.
But who knows, maybe I'm lucky and they have a room for me.
To not leave that lifetime dream to chance, I've already booked an alternative accomodation very close to the venue. Like that I'll be there no matter what.
It's not an appropriate description for such a paradisiac place, but this would be my "plan B". Well it's rather an A - being the venue the A+ - I think :-)
This is how I'd always imagine Bali - green and idyllic
Take me there and I'll get lost - these sun loungers look incredibly comfortable
Finally I can read all the books I've never read! :-)
Besides the WSL™️ action, this is definitely going to be a rather relaxed vacation than anything else.
2017 has been quite hectic and fast-paced. It's time to slow down a bit.
The best thing about booking vacation early is that you have months of pleasant anticipation! Now I can contact all my surfing friends and invite them to join, ask the ones that have been to Bali about their tips and recommendations, study the travel guides and daydream about meeting my surf idols.
There are still more than 6 months to go, but I can already feel it! That's going one of the trips of my life.
Besides surfing, traveling is definitely my life's elixir.
For the rest of the weekend I'll be surfing on these endorphins of anticipation :-)
Hope you're enjoying yours in a similar way.
Best, Marly -
