On confidence: surfer girls rip and they are hot. - Alana Blanchard
Who if not you, Alana?
There's a special glow around surfer girls and their natural sexiness that makes them become some of the most desired advertising icons in our time.
Yet, against the image perceived at first glance, they represent much more than just small bikinis, blonde hair and tanned skin. Surfing popstars embody a whole lifestyle of naturalness, sportiness and healthiness.
If smoking cigarettes was cool in the nineties, then being healthy, in shape and energetic is the contemporary mission.
Here's to the zeitgeisty beach mermaids!

Strong is the new beautiful!
The spirit of the time is healthiness.
Or in other words:
Skinny girls look good in clothes, fit girls look good naked.
Finally advertisers are recognizing the true zeitgeist of the twenty-first century. Times when girls had to be bony and look as if they didn't sleep enough, fortunately start belonging to the past. Not only in the beach fashion sector, naturalness has become a selling proposition.
Girls and women finally start to show themselves as they are. Just think about celebrities such as the singer Alisha Keys who completely stopped wearing make-up. She triggered off a whole wave of 'au naturel'.
Thumbs up for that!

It's a whole lifestyle
I've always adored the surfer style.
That attitude to live for the moment, take things easy and do what you love is totally my thing. But it's even more than that: surfing requires a high fitness level. If you want to perform, you need to take care of your body, including a balanced nutrition and enough sleep. These is actually the best 'excuse' to maintain a healhy lifestyle!
Now if I had been able to grow up at the beach and start surfing at an earlier age, I'd have surely tried to make a living from professional surfing. It's hard to get to the top, but I would have loved trying.
In a bit more than one month I'll travel to Bali in order to witness the World Surf League competition. It's going to be my very first participation in an official surf event, and you can't imagine how I excited I am about it. That ambient must be totally thrilling!
Now guess which set of bikinis I ordered for my Bali trip... Ha!
We are what we wear? You bet! :-)
You can take the girl out of the surf, but you can't take the surf out of the girl.
Much love,
Marly -
PS: By the way in 10 days from today I'll be surfing again! I'm almost fully recovered from my health issues and I think I'll be able to give it a try soon. Let's count down :-)
Thanks for your valuable time!
