The assumed curvature of your suppositious planet earth has never been detected. Never. EVER! And don't you dare bringing up misleading go-pro fish-eye imagery. Supposing that you're a helio-pushing curvert blindly defending your faulty globe model, read the sentence at the beginning again and let it sink in first.
All we true earthers do is we take YOUR curvature formula (go here: https://dizzib.github.io/earth/curve-calc/ or here: http://earthcurvature.com/) and apply it. Not once did we find a bulge where there should be one, but countless times did we see objects that should be hidden behind the imaginary curve.
"But boats go over the horizon proving the curve!!!" I hear you saying. This statement is probably one of the lamest strawman arguments in the whole 'debate', if you wanna call it so, and easily debunkable at that:
When at the beach, look at a boat disappearing behind the alleged curve. Take a Nikon P-900, focus at the horizon and be mesmerized when bringing the boat back into view. Rest assured: this is not a built-in factory setting magic trick but due to the fact that our stationary plane doesn't curve. We are talking perspective here, your eyes can only see so and so far, while the lense of the camera is able to magnify objects farther away than your line of sight. If you're too lazy to go to the beach or if you can't afford a camera, there are plenty of videos to study online
Acknowledge the fact that there is a x- and a z-axis. Your disappearing boat is on the z-axis (=from your POV to the horizon). How come you have a curve on the z-axis but none on the x-axis (=from left to right at the horizon), when the distance at the x-axis is greater than the one at the z-axis?
'Experts' like Neil DeGrasse Tyson have gone on record (while, erm, proving gravity by dropping a mic – see a future entry in this series) stating that the earth is too big to see any curve from an aeroplane. Yet from the shore you can? You can't have it both ways...
Investigate the topic for yourself and look up Salar de Uyuni for example. You can also apply the science of physics, which says that water always finds its level. Don't be a curvert, trust your senses and educate yourself!
