The strange thing about the johnsons (lo raro sobre los johnsons)

Yesterday I was searching about Ari Aster, and I found his first job, a short film which is in Youtube, and with kind of uncertainty I saw it to write about Ari Aster with more property. A short film of 29 minutes long named “the strange thing about the johnsons” is by the top, strange. The film is about an interesting thing that in 2011 I don’t think it was view like that, that’s why, instead write about Ari Aster, I want to talk you about this awesome short film.

Ayer investigando sobre Ari Aster, encontré que su primer trabajo, un corto, está publicado en youtube, y con cierta incertidumbre lo vi para así poder hablar del director con un poco más de propiedad. Un corto de 29 minutos titulado “lo extraño sobre los johnsons” que es por sobre todo, extraña. Toca un tema interesante que no creo que en 2011 se haya tocado de esa forma, y por eso, en vez de hablar de Ari Aster, quiero hablarles sobre este increíble corto.

I’ve been thinking too much how speak about this. I really don’t want to give you nothing about the plot. I just want to tell you that at in just 29 minutes Ari give us a rude history with lower budget and having a little disgusting scenes without been explicit, with just insinuate whats goin on, he give us a feeling of disgust that, for me, is difficult to make with just a lower production.

Estuve pensando mucho en cómo abordar esto, ya que la verdad no quería revelar nada sobre la trama. Solo quiero decir que en menos de media hora Ari nos cuenta una historia cruda con muy poco presupuesto y con escenas un poco perturbantes sin la necesidad de ser explicitas, con tan solo insinuar lo que está pasando, nos da una sensación de asco que, a mi parecer, es difícil de lograr con la poca producción que tiene encima.

It’s write and make by him, with an interesting theme with a such a more interesting way, that make the short film a big beginning for the director. With awesome takes that makes the film seems like a horror film (when I really don’t see the film like that). Its seems by the very beginnings what wont Ari Aster and that he knew how to guide his career: to psychical terror. With a great script, very good to be a short film, is something difficult to be, and that’s why the short can be used to learn how to write and make with lower budget; and that its something that I cannot pass.

*Esta escrito y dirigido por él, tocando un tema interesante de una forma mucho más interesante, que hace de este corto un gran comienzo para el director. Con planos increíbles que hacen ver el corto como algo de terror (cuando en realidad no lo vi así). Se nota desde un principio que Ari Aster sabía para dónde quería guiar su carrera: hacía el terror psicológico. Con un guion muy completo para un corto, es algo que por más difícil de ver que sea, se puede estudiar para así entender cómo escribir y también como dirigir con poco presupuesto; y eso es algo que no puedo dejar pasar. *
