These diseases don't exist anywhere in the world except Russia, Ukraine and other post-Soviet countries. But here they are still actively treated!
And even if they exist, they occur in special cases, but here people spend thousands of money to treat symptoms of artificial illnesses.
You can be healthy in the USA or Europe, but when you come to a Russian doctor, you'll hear you're very sick and need urgent treatment (I hope you have money, because being ill is VERY expensive anywhere in the world, and in Russia as well)
The Soviet Union had fallen long ago but some deseases were remained in the "inheritance".
I was really shocked when I discovered this info watching an educative programme about medicine some days ago.
It's interesting to hear your opinion, and if you have heard about these deseases before!
1. Vegetosovascular dystonia (amn't sure about the translation because I couldn't find such a desease anywhere in the vocabulary!!)
The diagnosis of "vegetovascular dystonia" is absent in the International Classification of Diseases
but it's widely spread in all post-soviet countries!
It's a tragedy of many women at the age of 16 to 50 (yes, "sickness" is three times more likely to be detected in women). A diagnosis can be found because of lack of sport activity at the age 17, nervous breakdown after a quarrel with a husband at 30 or after problems at work at 45. Not too many reasons??
According to various Russian-language sources (in fact, they are only available), the cause and mechanism of the development of the" disease "are not fully established and include a number of changes affecting all system of the body - from cardiovascular and endocrine to the nervous and digestive ones.
Manifestations of this disease are extensive and can not be described - from dizziness and coldness of fingers to palpitation, sweating and pain in the heart. So just ANYTHING you feel can be vegetosovascular dystonia!
If you try to look for the common equivalent of this "disease" in the world literature, you will get something in between a panic attack and "somatization" anxiety, manifested in various somatic disorders.
This is a universal diagnosis, which is put to a patient who has a lot of insignificant symptoms (so maybe doctors just don't want to seek for their real reasons??).
2. Dysbacteriosis (dysbiosis)
It should be noted that although English literature recognizes the possibility of developing a real dysbiosis, the amount of cases with dysbiosis abroad is much lower than here!
Here it's a common problem of all moms of newborns and even adults who have a stomachache of unknown reasons. And then a long way of medical treatment and investigation begins... Thousands of money!!
This disease is often found not only by doctors but by people themselves! They are so addictive to advertisments and Big Pharma that they are ready to eat dozens of pills and drink litres of yogurt to treat it!
People know (from TV ads as a rule) that in the intestine we have "good" and "bad" bacteria, that the number of beneficial bacteria decreases from malnutrition, and you need to eat as much yogurt as possible. Better with some bacteria. Advertising education is powerful!
Dysbacteriosis can really happen temporaly, but it can not last for many years, the flora itself is completely restored: under normal balanced nutrition, bacterial cells multiply very quickly. Doctors should seek for real reasons of pain but they just put this mystic diagnosis...
3. OSTEOCHONDROSIS
This diagnosis really exist in the world, but in post-soviet countries it's used in a wrong way.
All kinds of pain in the back and neck are explained by this very disease, even if they occur in absolutely different places!
True osteochondrosis is a problem with the intervertebral disc, that sooner or later arises with age, disrupting the mobility of the spine.
Most of the back pains are myofascial syndromes. Myo - means muscle, and fascial - means ligamentous. The reason of the pain is in muscles and ligaments, but not in the discs and vertebrae. So the approach to treatment and prevention should be completely different !!
4. Cervical erosion
In the English literature it exists under the name "ectopia" - a normal phenomenon in which the mucosa from the cervical canal sometimes passes to its external (vaginal) part.
The difference is in approaches to it: according to most gynecological recommendations, erosion treatment is not required if it does not cause any inconvenience.
In post-Soviet countries the struggle against erosion was rampant, it was treated by cauterization by cold, laser and all kinds of preparations even surgical resection! Nowadays the situation is the same!!
And Western doctors do not even think of treating the ectopia, considering this a normal physiological condition.
5. Avitaminosis
It is not a disease in Russia, it's a normal state of a body after winter time - a lack of vitamins, as they call it, and of course it needs urgent treatment! As much vitamins as possible! And if they just eat many fruits, it's great, but they start to buy numerous artificial vitamins from pharmacy!
Pregnant and brest-feeding moms are under special pressure of all doctors, who insist to but and take medical vitamins in pill because their bodies need help. And many moms really follow tis advice because they are afraid for their babies.
People are used to trust doctors - it's the main problem.Nobody thinks that useful and right nutrition is the best medicine ever...
I know many girls who have moved abroad and they are so surprised that doctors don't prescribe them vitamins. Only in rare and special cases. Here it's a common case for almost every visit to a doctor!
6. Immunodeficiency
This is a very serious health problem but it occurs not so often like our doctors and patients think!
They think if a person or a baby catches flu 3-4 time a year - he needs urgent treatmnet by immunomodulators! People even don't try to find out what it is, and how the immune system works!
Doctors are glad to use theit naivety and to prescribe many expensive pills to make their own pockets wider.
Doctors are a part of Big Pharma's business - why do people forget about it?..
