There is one great way how to teach your kid to behave with money and know its price.
Why do we need to do it?
There is no doubt - a kid should know the value of money. Earning is not his deal, but he must know it's not just paper from Heaven, and all his things and toys cost money.
My boy is beloved by us very much, and , of course, we try to do anything he gets all he wants.
But when I saw his "wants" started to be numerous, I got I had to show him my pocket didn't generate money, and all had its price.
So I've used a great popular way - let him get his money by himself.
For now we didn't use the system where a kid earns money for doing some home work, I just let him collect his first money.
We took a small box and gave him extra money we had from time to time, not often, to show him money can't be got super easy and fast always.
I asked him - what he would buy. He wanted some new toys, constructors, sweets.....everything at once;)
Ok:)
Time passed, he was proud his box was not empty:) But it lasted for about 1 month. So he didn't get anything from us because he had HIS own money.
At last I said we would go to kids shop, so he could count his savings.
We used a calculator for now.
So he got 650 rubles.
I explained him - the more numbers, the more money you have, and he was happy there were 3 of them:)
Then I told him how to compare his savings and the price in the shop.
And do you know what happened in the shop??
He did NOT want to spend ALL at once;)
My plan worked perfectly well! He understood that he was waiting for this money long, and the next money wouldn't fall on him the next day, so he had to save them and not to spend all at once;)
And he was so proud in the shop to take out money from HIS own pocket, to give it and to take HIS toys;)
He chose some new animals models to play with and was happy he got new toys + he saved money for something else.
It's his favourite game now - just small toy figures for whom he created hiw own stories, build homes and so on...Creativity is action:)
And a great money life lesson;)
