Hello everyone 👧.
This week's ASEAN Hive Challenge #56 - How Do You Beat The Heat? My answer is cold food or beverages. While there are many types of cold food and beverages, sweet shaved ice comes to mind when I'm completely overheated 🔥.
My family usually makes our own sweet shaved ice at home once a month. Since the recent weather has been extremely hot, it is almost as if we are having sweet shaved ice almost every week. Even if you stay inside a car, the air conditioner cannot beat the outside heat. In addition, the car can become a solar microwave for warming my water in the bottle and food in the container (bring food from home to eat in my office).
As for the recent week when my Mum, and I shopped for grocery shopping in hot weather, we immediately headed to any stall or restaurant nearby us for cold sweet shaved ice before returned home. At the same time, introducing this so-called legendary shaved ice stall for this post.
Ah Pak ABC and Familia, a stall previously was situated at an open space of public park in Kota Kinabalu, but is now located at an open space beside children playground at a housing area. This stall has been in operation for more than 20 years. In the old days, not many stalls served sweet shaved ice. Therefore, most of the people (mostly middled-aged like me and elder) knew this stall. Although the stall was located at another place, the stall was always crowded with families and friends enjoying the sweet shaved ice together. For more information, this stall is operated by an old man (Ah Pak, the business owner) who seems more than 70 years old and looks still healthy currently.

It's different from Uncle Cha Kuey, who personally managed all the work for his own business in my previous post, because this shaved ice shop was entirely managed by the workers. Other than sweet shaved ice, snacks and other beverages are also served at this stall. The price of sweet shaved ice here is the cheapest for me compared to other stalls or restaurants around Kota Kinabalu that serving the same item.

As we waited for our sweet shaved ice to be delivered to our table, we were fascinated by the rescued chair. If at home, we usually throw away the broken chair. For the case of this stall, the broken chairs look like they have been sent to a surgery room before. Refer to the picture below, the broken chairs still usable after getting stitches.

I haven't started to eat my sweet shaved ice, but the shaved ice melted very fast due to the damn hot weather. Racing with the hot weather temperature, I have to eat the excess shaved ice in this small bowl to avoid any waste of the ice water splitting out from this bowl.

However, I'm failed and heartbroken when I see the waste on the table.
That's all. Thanks for reading my post 🤗.
