Hello everyone π§.
Bambangan (Mangifera pajang) is an exotic fruit that is only found on the island of Borneo. Similar to mango, the fruit is yellow. However, Bambangan outer appearance is in rough brown skin and the taste is different from mango. We extract the Bambangan's fruits including the seeds to be granted, then pickle with salt the fruits' extract for one day or better more period. The Bambangan pickles we usually eat with rice or noodle during our meals.
My family loves Bambangan pickles and it is almost running out of stock at home. Thus, my Mum and I went to Tamu Buhavan Donggongon or the morning market on Sunday to search for Bambangan.
Tamu or Weekly Market
In Sabah, weekly market we called it as Tamu.
We reach at Tamu Buhavan Donggongon's area around 10.30 am. I'm facing difficulty in finding parking lots to park my car until I need to drive around the roundabout near that area many times to wait for a free lot. I'm managed to park my car after I saw a car drive out, but still the empty space I park my car was illegal. Many cars around parked illegally, so my Mum and I just went to the market without getting scare the police penalty us.

The morning market's stalls were located on the prepared specify parking lots and corridor at the Buhavan's shoplots. Majority of the stalls here selling vegetables, fruits and dried seafoods like udang kering, ikan bilis and ikan masin.

There were green plants for home decoration selling in the market too.

We found the ready-made Bambangan pickles (that cost for RM15 to RM20 each container) at a stall that selling pickled and fermented traditional food. We're not going to buy it, as we want to search the raw fruits to do the Bambangan pickles work ourselves. It's cost saving and more quantities when make the Bambangan pickles ourselves.

It's hard to find the Bambangan fruit in the market as majority of the people in Sabah love it. We almost gave up after searching through many stalls in the market but we finally found the stall that selling it near the exit.
The stall selling RM10 for 4 pieces of Bambangan for the same size and for the bigger size will be in different prices.

As below picture, these were the seeds of the Bambangan that the stall selling it. My Mum would like to buy it if she saw it earlier before buying 8 pieces of Bambangan.

After done our main mission, we went window shopping at the other section of the market that we haven't gone to.

Tarap, durian, tuhau and ginger

Hen or ayam kampung for sales

Rabbits and parrots for sales

Orange's cat not for sales

Bambangan Pickes
My Mum is the one doing the Bambangan pickles for the whole process. In the kitchen with Mum, I'm always getting scold for not doing the right way of cooking, which same method as her π .

The 8 pieces of Bambangan that only cost RM30, we can make 6 containers of Bambangan pickles. If we sell these 6 containers at the market, we can earn around RM100. Sorry if I'm very calculative, as is a habit for myself as a businesswoman π.

I usually put some Bambangan pickles in my and lunch box with rice to bring to my workplace for lunch.

That's all. Thanks for reading my post π€.
