We spent a couple of weeks in Mazatlán and took the opportunity to try lots of new food from local restaurants! We went over food costs briefly in our Cost of Living blog post, but in this video, we go a little more in-depth with some real-life examples. We hope this will give you a better idea of the cost of eating out in Mazatlán.
The restaurants we included in this video...
They were some of our favorites during our time there. We were able to find quite a few vegan and vegetarian options. Fresh fruit is prevalent here and much of it is grown nearby. So if you're a vegan, you should have no trouble finding something you can eat.
We found that most restaurants were great about catering to allergies due to the fact that they make almost everything from scratch. To our delight, they were almost always able to make it with or without certain ingredients.
The United States vs. Mexico
Back in the US, we often found that restaurants would often buy their sauces, vegetable mixes, soups, and many other things already prepared. Therefore, if you're allergic to something (like onions in Maddie's case) you're usually out of luck since almost all sauces and dressings contain it. Before coming to Mexico, we could hardly find anywhere to eat out without the fear of an allergic reaction. We're having much better luck navigating these food obstacles in Mexico.
Join us as we explore Mazatlán's food scene and tempt you with the sights of some amazing cuisine!
