Phra That Phu Pek is located at Sakon Nakhon, in the North East of Thailand. It’s an ancient Khmer ruin castle. I think it’s one of interesting archaeological sites in Thailand. It’s situated in very large area on high mountain.
It’s amazing that this castle was built from sandstone and big rocks. I quite wonder how the ancient people worked with those things.
This place is very peaceful and has beautiful scenery with a lot of green trees.
The ruin castle has no roof and there are interesting ancient Buddha images in the castle.
It is believed that ancient people built this castle to see the sun position as ancient calendar for religious ceremony purpose.
If you would like to go there, you would climb up the stairs (over 400 steps) to the top of the mountain.
Apart from nice atmosphere, there are also beautiful peacocks around the area that you can admire them closely.
And you may notice big and old trees over there.
I especially love white wildflowers on the ground as below photo. Really beautiful!
p.s. My sister visited there and sent me these photos to share with you.
