Before I tell you about my outing yesterday, I want to start by sending you my warmest greetings and wishing you a peaceful, productive weekend filled with wonderful things. It’s always a pleasure to come here and share with you a little bit of my days, my walks, and those moments that—though simple—give life on Margarita a special charm.
I’ll tell you that the days around here continue to be beautiful, though also quite hot. That typical island heat that sometimes becomes stifling, but which is still part of our routine and who we are. That’s why I’ve already decided that this weekend I’ll take the opportunity to rest, disconnect a bit, and take a few walks along the beach. Nothing beats the sea for refreshing the body and spirit. And of course, I’ll show you all of this in future posts, because there’s always something new to see—a different color in the sky or a wave that arrives with a special sparkle.
Antes de contarles cómo fue mi recorrido de ayer, quiero comenzar saludándoles con mucho cariño y deseándoles un fin de semana tranquilo, productivo y lleno de cosas bonitas. Siempre es un gusto venir a compartir con ustedes un pedacito de mis días, de mis rutas y de esos momentos que, aunque sencillos, hacen que la vida en Margarita tenga un encanto especial.
Les cuento que los días por aquí continúan siendo hermosos, aunque también bastante calurosos. Ese calor típico de la isla que a veces se vuelve sofocante, pero que igual forma parte de nuestra rutina y de lo que somos. Por eso, ya tengo decidido que este fin de semana lo aprovecharé para descansar, desconectar un poco y darme algunos recorridos por la playa. Nada como el mar para refrescar el cuerpo y el espíritu. Y claro, también se los mostraré en próximas publicaciones, porque siempre hay algo nuevo que ver, algún color distinto en el cielo o una ola que llega con un brillo especial.
The day started very early, as days usually do when we have to go to the Ecoland hotel, which is quite a distance from our house. But you know how it is; when there’s work to be done, the distance doesn’t seem so bad. So we set out at a leisurely pace and took the Portachuelo road, a route I really enjoy because it’s surrounded by pure nature. I love the hills, and seeing that they stay green despite the intense drought is something that always amazes me. Nature has incredible strength; it finds a way to survive even when the weather doesn’t cooperate.
Este día comenzó bien temprano, como suelen empezar los días cuando toca ir hasta el hotel Ecoland, que queda bastante distante de nuestra casa. Pero ya saben; cuando hay deber, las distancias no pesan tanto. Así que salimos con calma y tomamos la vía Portachuelo, una ruta que disfruto muchísimo porque está rodeada de pura naturaleza. Amo los cerros, y ver que se mantienen verdes a pesar de la intensa sequía es algo que siempre me asombra. La naturaleza tiene una fuerza increíble, busca la manera de subsistir incluso cuando el clima no ayuda.
In the rainy season, the trees lining the road are covered in deep, almost glossy green foliage. Now, however, they look a little drier and gloomier, yet they still retain a unique beauty—the kind you only appreciate when you learn to look closely. As we drove along, my husband and I chatted, reminiscing about other trips and stories, and before we knew it, we had arrived at the hotel.
En tiempos de lluvia, los árboles al borde de la vía lucen un follaje verde intenso, casi brillante. Ahora, en cambio, se ven un poco más secos y sombríos, pero igual conservan una belleza particular, esa que solo se aprecia cuando uno aprende a mirar con atención. Mientras avanzábamos, mi esposo y yo íbamos conversando, recordando otros trayectos, otras anécdotas, y sin darnos cuenta ya estábamos llegando al hotel.
As always, we were welcomed there with kindness, a cheerful attitude, and that signature Sunsol smile. Honestly, most of their staff are so warm and welcoming that you really feel right at home.
Allí nos recibieron como siempre; con amabilidad, disposición y esa sonrisa que caracteriza a la cadena Sunsol. De verdad que la mayoría de sus trabajadores tienen un trato tan cálido que uno se siente como en casa.
We spent the day working at the hotel, updating all the services and going over every detail. We were so focused that we completely forgot about lunch. By the time we finished, it was already 3:50 p.m., and that’s when we realized it. Luckily, we’d been offered several snacks throughout the day, so we didn’t miss lunch all that much.
Pasamos el día trabajando en el hotel, poniendo al día todos los servicios y revisando cada detalle. Estábamos tan concentrados que se nos pasó por completo la hora de almorzar. Cuando terminamos, ya eran las 3:50 pm y fue allí cuando caímos en cuenta. Por suerte, durante el día nos ofrecieron varias meriendas, así que no sentimos tanto la falta del almuerzo.
As we left the hotel, feeling a sense of satisfaction at a job well done, we walked along the lagoon and the beach, which looked radiant at that hour, with a soft glow that only appears on calm afternoons.
Al salir del hotel, con la satisfacción del deber cumplido, bordeamos la laguna la playa, que a esa hora se veía radiante, con un brillo suave que solo aparece en las tardes tranquilas.
From there, we headed to Juangriego for lunch at a place called Pollo Feliz. The service is fast, the chicken is delicious, and we always leave happy.
Desde allí nos fuimos hasta Juangriego a almorzar en un lugar llamado Pollo Feliz. Atienden rápido, el pollo es delicioso y siempre salimos contentos.
After lunch, we went straight home to rest a bit, because we still have a few things to do this Friday before we can fully enjoy the weekend.
Después de comer, regresamos directo a casa para descansar un poco, porque este viernes aún nos quedan algunos trabajos por hacer antes de poder disfrutar plenamente del fin de semana.
