Today I’ll be back at work after a relaxing Sunday that was a little different and full of little touches that made the day feel special right from the start.
This Sunday at home was a little different, which is why I remember it so fondly. Our son woke up very early—earlier than usual—and surprised us with a delicious breakfast accompanied by balloons. It was such a sweet and unexpected gesture that it melted our hearts first thing in the morning. He had to head over to his friend’s house because they had an activity planned, but he didn’t want to put off his congratulations until later. He wanted to be there, even if just for a little while, and that gesture made it even more special.
After he left, my husband and I stayed home enjoying the morning’s tranquility. Around lunchtime, we decided to go out because he wanted to give me a ring. A few months ago, I lost one that had great sentimental value to me, and since he’s always attentive to my things and my feelings, he wanted to replace it with something that also had meaning. The weather was beautiful and warm, with that gentle sun, so we went out just before noon.

Nuestro hijo se levantó muy temprano, más temprano de lo habitual, y nos sorprendió con un desayuno delicioso acompañado de globos. Fue un gesto tan bonito y tan inesperado que nos dejó con el corazón blandito desde primera hora. Él tenía que salir para casa de su amiga porque tenían planeada una actividad, pero no quería que sus felicitaciones quedaran para después. Quiso estar presente, aunque fuera un ratito, y ese detalle lo hizo aún más especial.
Después de que él se marchó, mi esposo y yo nos quedamos en casa disfrutando de la tranquilidad de la mañana. Cerca del horario de almuerzo decidimos salir, porque él quería regalarme un anillo. Hace unos meses se me extravió uno que tenía un valor sentimental muy grande para mí, y como él siempre está pendiente de mis cosas y de mis emociones, quiso reemplazarlo con algo que también tuviera significado. El clima estaba hermoso, cálido, con ese sol suave, así que salimos justo antes del mediodía.
We arrived at the Rattan Mall, where there’s a jewelry store that specializes in silver and surgical steel pieces. As we walked through the aisles, I felt that mix of excitement and nostalgia that you only feel when something important is about to come back into your life. Next to the store was a very cozy dining area, with clean tables, good lighting, and that irresistible aroma of freshly cooked food. Everything looked fresh and was prepared on the spot, so while my husband picked out a ring for me, I spent my time choosing two delicious lunch options.

When he came back, we sat down to eat. It was a simple lunch, but full of flavor and that sense of well-being you only feel when you’re sharing a meal with someone you love.
Cuando él regresó, nos sentamos a comer. After lunch, we went back to the jewelry store, where they had the perfect ring ready for me. It was very simple, but beautiful, and although it wasn’t the same one I’d lost, it now held an added sentimental value: my husband’s gesture, his intention, his love.
With our stomachs full and the ring sparkling in my hand, we headed home, taking a tour of the city. We thoroughly enjoyed the ride, laughing, chatting, and watching the afternoon bustle.

When we got home, we settled in the living room to watch some movies our son had picked out for us. They were action movies—really good ones, the kind that keep you on the edge of your seat from start to finish. My husband made some popcorn, and that’s how we spent our Sunday afternoon: relaxing together.
