[ENG/ESP] A Thursday of tasks completed and goals achieved

The week keeps moving forward, and with it come work and all those pending tasks that never seem to end. Before I tell you how my days have been going, I want to wish you all a wonderful and productive Thursday, filled with positive energy and those little motivators that make any commitment feel lighter.
Sunny days have been plentiful lately, almost as if the sun wants to remind us at every moment that we’re in the middle of the hot season. The drought has also worsened, though I won’t be discussing that today. I just want to point out that the heat has been truly intense—the kind that forces you to leave the house with a bottle of water in hand and your mind set on taking care of yourself and staying well-hydrated while you go about your responsibilities. On days like these, you appreciate any shade, any breeze, any break.
Our first task of the day was to go to the Sunsol Unik hotel to perform the routine chlorination and water testing—an essential part of our work and something that’s now part of our daily routine. We also needed to buy a tray of paint because we had to paint the room where we store our tools. So we set out early, intending to make the most of the day and get everything done.
As we drove along the road, we took in the urban and natural landscapes that always accompany our journeys. Even if you pass through the same places many times, there’s always something different to see: a greener tree, a clearer mountain, a brighter sky. Those little things make the journey more bearable and even pleasant.

La semana continúa avanzando, y con ella también siguen el trabajo y todas esas gestiones pendientes que nunca faltan. Antes de contarles cómo han ido mis días, quiero desearles un excelente y productivo jueves a todos, lleno de buena energía y de esas pequeñas motivaciones que hacen más ligero cualquier compromiso.
Los días soleados abundan últimamente, casi como si el sol quisiera recordarnos a cada momento que estamos en plena temporada de calor. La sequía también se ha incrementado, aunque de ese tema no hablaré hoy. Solo quiero resaltar que el calor está siendo realmente intenso, de esos que te obligan a salir de casa con una botella de agua en la mano y la mente puesta en cuidarte e hidratarte bien mientras cumples con tus responsabilidades. En días así, uno agradece cualquier sombra, cualquier brisa, cualquier pausa.
Nuestra primera tarea del día era ir al hotel Sunsol Unik para realizar la cloración y la medición rutinaria, parte esencial de nuestro trabajo y algo que ya forma parte de nuestra dinámica diaria. Además, teníamos pendiente comprar una bandeja de pintura porque debíamos pintar el local donde guardamos nuestras herramientas. Así que salimos temprano, con la intención de aprovechar el día y cumplir con todo lo que nos habíamos propuesto.
Mientras avanzábamos por la carretera, íbamos apreciando los paisajes urbanos y naturales que siempre acompañan nuestros recorridos. Aunque uno pase por los mismos lugares muchas veces, siempre hay algo distinto que ver; un árbol más verde, una montaña más clara, un cielo más brillante. Esas pequeñas cosas hacen que el trayecto sea más llevadero y hasta agradable.

When we arrived at the hotel, we were given a warm welcome, as usual. That kindness is always appreciated, because it makes the work go more smoothly. We carried out the chlorination and disinfection routine with our usual attention to detail, checked the parameters, and, to our satisfaction, everything was within the appropriate ranges. With the peace of mind that comes from knowing we had done our job properly, we left to move on to the next task of the day.

Al llegar al hotel, nos recibieron muy bien, como es costumbre. Esa amabilidad siempre se agradece, porque hace que el trabajo fluya con más ánimo. Realizamos la rutina de cloración y desinfección con la concentración de siempre, verificamos los parámetros y, para nuestra satisfacción, todo dio dentro de los valores correspondientes. Con esa tranquilidad de haber cumplido correctamente, nos retiramos para continuar con la siguiente tarea del día.

The second task was the one that worried me the most, because I’m good at the work itself, but getting a specific item wasn’t entirely up to me. We needed a paint tray, but several stores only sold them as part of a set with a brush or roller, and the price was no less than ten dollars. We didn’t want to pay extra for something we didn’t need, so we kept looking.

La segunda gestión era la que más me preocupaba, porque el trabajo lo domino, pero conseguir algo específico ya no depende de mí. Necesitábamos la bandeja de pintura, pero en varios locales solo la vendían junto con brocha o rodillo, y el precio no bajaba de diez dólares. No queríamos pagar de más por algo que no necesitábamos, así que seguimos buscando.

They recommended we go to La Tienda del Pintor in La Asunción, because they actually sold individual trays there. And that’s exactly what happened. When we arrived, they greeted us warmly and immediately told us they had individual trays for seven dollars, and a complete set—tray, brush, putty knife, and roller—for eight dollars. The difference was minimal, so without giving it much thought, we decided to get the complete kit. For just one dollar more, we were getting tools that, even if we didn’t use them right away, would always come in handy for another occasion.

Nos recomendaron ir a La Tienda del Pintor, en La Asunción, porque allí sí vendían bandejas sueltas. Y así fue. Al llegar, nos atendieron amablemente y enseguida nos dijeron que tenían bandejas solas por siete dólares, y un juego completo —bandeja, brocha, espátula y rodillo— por ocho dólares. La diferencia era mínima, así que sin pensarlo mucho decidimos llevarnos el kit completo. Por un dólar más, salíamos ganando herramientas que, aunque no las usáramos de inmediato, siempre serían útiles para otra ocasión.

With our shopping done, we headed home to start painting the space and get as much done as we could. The day was spent running errands, dealing with the heat, working, and enjoying small moments of satisfaction—a bit hectic, yes, but also filled with that wonderful feeling of having accomplished everything we set out to do.

Con nuestra compra lista, regresamos a casa para comenzar a pintar el local y adelantar lo que pudiéramos. El día transcurrió entre diligencias, calor, trabajo y pequeñas satisfacciones, un poco atareado, sí, pero también lleno de esa sensación bonita de haber cumplido con todo lo que nos propusimos.
