We Talk Friday
(WTF)
This is a semi-regular series that I will run on Fridays to hold discussions on a current topic from the week gone. The aim is to keep them light and conversational, though some might be heavier - regardless of the content topic itself though, just have some fun engaging and discussing with whoever happens to put in the effort in the comments section below.
We Talk Friday Ep. 54: What a Cock
1. You are an Illegal Alien
“While past administrations sought to discredit or dissuade the American people, President Trump is focused on providing maximum transparency to the public, who can ultimately make up their own minds about the information contained in these files.”
Nope - not about Epstein - No transparency on that.
The US government has released a so far underwhelming dump of files pertaining to alien interaction, or lack thereof, depending on what you believe. Most of it seems to have largely been seen before, but that doesn't stop the spin on how transparent the Trump government is - despite going to war without warning congress or allies.
Do you believe in Aliens?
Man, if they would abduct me and get me the fuck off this messed up world, I'd be pretty happy.
2. Turned Tides
"Seventy-seven percent of respondents said that Europe must reduce its technological and economic dependence on the United States, even if it weakens bilateral relations. Nine percent oppose the idea."
This is from a poll in Finland and I think it is pretty clear from the results that at least from the perspective of the average Finn, the US can't be trusted in business or in security. And as I have said earlier, I have been in that camp for a while, believing that the EU should cut as many economic ties with the US as possible, start taxing US corporations locally and in full, and build its own security forces and defence systems. It might take time, but the sooner it starts, the faster it gets done.
3. Have You Met Nipples?
It was the Met Gala this week and lo and behold, it was another event where a slew of women went out in public naked, as if it is brave. Well, it would be brave to walk down a real street like that, but that is not the attention they are after. There is no political position, no greater cause - they just want to make it into pictures in the media.
I find it pathetic.
I am not a prude and I am a huge fan of the human form, but it has just become so passé, so thoughtless, so mediocre, so lame. There is no art in fashion anymore, no fun. It is all falling into just another average Instagram post by some rando who wants to monetize category.
Fashion used to have art, now it has no class.
