I want to thank for bringing this to my attention in a post. Here is his post to read what his take is on things:

For those who are unaware, pornography has an interesting place in the advancement of technology. They tend to be early adopters with a huge following that can make or break a technology. The VCR and webcam are two technologies that come to mind that were embraced early by the porn industry which took off. At present, the porn industry is also investigating the viability of virtual reality with, I am presuming, more content created for them than anyone else.
Now you can count Smart Media Tokens as a technology the porn industry is getting on board with. If you didn't article, you can check out vice.org.
What is really exciting is that right on the top of the front page it says "Built on the Steem Blockchain". This is the first, that I am aware of, large media player to embrace SMTs. I wrote a couple posts yesterday explaining how I was still super bullish on STEEM in spite of steemit's present problems.

This recent news only makes me more bullish. While Vice will be issuing its' own currency, it is built on the steem blockchain. Like we are witnessing with the bitcoin blockchain, the more activity on a blockchain, the more it attracts developers which creates more activity which keeps repeating itself. Of course, stuck in the middle there are the speculators who push the price of the token higher.
To me, this is huge news. I am sure some of the organizations listed on vice.org like Penthouse will bring in some heavy hitters in the developer realm. This means whatever they do on the blockchain is open for all to see and implement. It is this openness which allows for rapid advancement.
While some might have a morality issue with porn, the bottom line is, when it comes to validating a technology, they are right there with the gaming industry as being the main ones to push it forward. It looks like the world of porn is embracing SMTs.
Hold onto your STEEM, things are just starting to get interesting.
