Bangladesh is now considered as one on the next eleven emerging market economies of the world. According to the IMF, Bangladesh's economy is the second fastest growing major economy as of 2016, with a growth rate of 7.1%. These numbers fill us with hope of brighter days ahead. As the county's exports keep on increasing at an unprecedented rate,we look forward to touching newer heights that were until recently thought to be faraway dreams.
Nothing portrays these successes better than the mega projects and infrastructures that are being implemented in different parts of the country. They convey the tidings of progress, development as growth of a nation like nothing else can. Here we have taken the opportunity of highlighting six such new ongoing futuristic projects to give you a glimpse of the bigger picture.
Ruppur nuclear power plant :
In the 200 km north-west of Dhaka, on the banks of the Padma river in Ishwardi upazila of Pabna, the Pokshi University's Rupupur has been fixed. It will be launched in 2023.
Dhaka Metro Rail :
It is a metro rail system implemented for the daily traffic congestion. From Uttara to Motijheel will be 20 kilometers. A total of 16 elevated stations will take off.
Pigeon harbor :
It is the 3rd ports of the pigeon sea port located in the Rabnabad channel of Patuakhali district of Bangladesh. If this is implemented, the new seaport will make many contributions to Bangladesh by meeting the rising demand of international trade on the way to the sea.
Dhaka Elevated Expressway :
This is Bangladesh's first elevated project. In Mohakhali, Tejgaon and Kamalapur, it connects Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport with Kutubakhali. This is a big project for resolving the traffic congestion of the capital. It will be 46.73 kilometer long.
