Marc Marquez successfully took pole position for the third time in a row, and the fifth time this season, after securing a pole position in the Austrian Grand Prix qualifying session on Saturday (12/8).
This is the position of the Marquez pole to 70 in all categories, and is a new achievement that has never been achieved by any racer. With a record time of 1 minute 23,235 seconds, Marquez successfully bloat the champion of the Austrian GP 2016 season ago, Andrea Dovizioso. Dovizioso which lags 0.144 seconds.
Behind Dovizioso, there is a new team-mate, Jorge Lorenzo who completes the front grid, and left 0.386 seconds from Dovi.
Maverick Vinales represent Yamaha in fourth, while Valentino Rossi is seventh and separated by Pramac riders Danilo Petrucci and Johann Zarco, fifth and sixth. While Dani Pedrosa secured eighth position for Repsol Honda, after struggling through Q1.
LCR Honda team racer Cal Crutchlow came in ninth after the first lap was removed as it crossed the track boundary at Turn 1. Completing the top 10 there was Andrea Iannone who suffered a mechanical failure in the fourth practice session but successfully closed the top 10.
