For every week in the life of a youth corps member, you have to be able and willing to spare a day off from the 5 days of working with your place of primary assignment (PPA). Even those that employed you already know that because it has been stated in your agreement with them. But for me it's another case because I have to travel far to Ibadan sometimes from ogun State or Lagos State due to the fact that I have not resumed my place of primary assignment (PPA). But it is very sure and certain that I have to be in Ibadan every week for clearance and monthly Community Development Services (CDS).
This week it also happened in Ibadan, but it is a place where I have always wanted to go all this while. It is the Jogor Center, Hall of Grace, Ibadan. It is located at No. 1, Harvester Drive, Liberty Rd, New Gra Ibadan, Oyo, Nigeria. Actually, I never thought this place would be so massive compared to what I saw. I have been hearing about this place online, but the moment I saw that this place was where we will do our next CDs, I took it upon myself to make sure I go.
For this month's CDs, it was anchored by the Jobberman Group, who are creating awareness for everyone about how to get remote jobs and also land long-lasting jobs and how to craft your curriculum vitae to attract potential employers and drive yourself out there to get noticed. Normally, aside from the place the event was to be done, I was still very happy at the fact that I wanted to go and learn from the Jobberman crew. The program started at exactly 10 am without any hesitation. Registrations were done, and souvenirs were given at the entry of the hall.
Another thing that made people relaxed was the fact that meal tickets were given to everyone and there were buses on stand that took everyone from different destinations to the program venue. When I got to the program venue, I was a bit confused because I did not know exactly what I had come there to do until I waited for some time and I was able to meet my old friend outside, who met a friend of his that explained what we were supposed to do to us before going into the hall.
Lots of big directors of different establishments were present on that occasion to grace it and also enlighten corpers and the neutral people that came for the event. I never knew Jorgo Center was that because of both the inside and the outside. It has a medium packing space for cars and motorcycles and enough security officers right there on stand to make sure everything is in order. The program was indeed a good one, and also it was worth the time and stress. The program finished at exactly 4 pm, and I went home with a lunch package, but I had to rush out to board a vehicle back to my destination because I still have to travel back to where I came from.
