Back again.
It turns out that a daily blog is a big undertaking. It was a long, hard work week and I decided that I can keep up the gratitude if I allow myself to veg out a little as well.
Today I'm thankful for my love of books.
I think my love of reading started around age 12. One of the first books I remember reading was "The Hardy Boys" series. It began by competing with the smartest person in my class for the top prize in a contest and I did win, by the way.
That love grew when I was introduced to the likes of "Animal Farm" and "Lord of the Flies" . I soon became the student that would finish the book before the rest of the class. Reading became an escape for me because I was that awkward kid that didn't have many friends in school and wasn't invited to the cool kids parties or to hang out.
I was a huge fan of anything written by Stephen King and I think my favorite of his was "Pet Cemetery" but my favorite genre found me after reading "A Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy" . I never got into comic books or graphic novels because I preferred my imagination coming up with the identities and backdrop of what I was reading.
To this day, I read daily though it's mostly to calm my thoughts to help me get to sleep. I still enjoy science fiction and fantasy with a bit of spy thriller and detective genre thrown in. I have to be careful because I'm a bit of an insomniac and if I'm towards the end of the book, I will read till I finish or literally pass out, whichever comes first.
Who are some of your favorite authors or books that you have read?
Thanks for reading and until we meet again, peace!
