How to know how we are all controlled in this world.
You have 5 choices to make regarding Income.
1- Get a job and work for part of your year for the IRS/Treasury/Bankers who hold (and create out of thin air) the government debt
2- Get a job and work, take less money through contributing to 401K's but hand over control of this money to others until you hit a certain age, also they scalp you for management fees. You can speculate your 401K yourself via self managed funds and invest in crypto ETF's (not really crypto eh?) or other assets you feel are undervalued.
3- Build a business whether it is microblogging (like here on Steem) and/or other opportunities for commerce out there. (Still you are controlled by being forced to pay taxes on company profits but there are many Attorneys/Accountants that know loopholes). Use this business to pay you a wage (like a job effectively), but also build equity in your company through a share of the profits through dividends and/or building the value of your company for resale.
4- Speculate on assets personally for capital gains, though again you are controlled by the government/will work for them for a portion of your year if a) you don't know the tricks to get out of it or b) don't reach your 0 tax rate capital gains rate
5- Do any combination of the above
