Tom Clancy, I would say that the first thing we remember when we read or hear this name is the Splinter Cell video game saga. Many of us know this name thanks to the famous stealth games saga but originally this name comes from literary novels where the author, "Tom Clancy", tells us a story about agents of the US military corps.
This time it's time for “Tom Clancy’s: Without Remorse” to shine. Film directed by Stefano Sollima and starring Michael B. Jordan from the hand of Amazon Prime Video, this film arrives to position itself as one of the best of its genre.
CLICHE STORY BUT WITH MORE SPLENDOR
The plot does not go beyond what has not been seen before, the family of our protagonist, John Kelly, is murdered by the Russians due to their participation in a secret operation that, without knowing it, could have consequences in the not too distant future . John will be morally obliged to pursue his attackers at all costs, he will join forces with a former Navy Seal colleague and a CIA agent.
John Kelly's mission uncovered a plot against the US and Russia to start a war. Divided between personal honor and loyalty to his country, he will do everything in his power to discover who is behind all this.
GOOD EXECUTION
Every scene unfolded in this movie can be felt right down to the bone, when the action scenes are staged you go from watching a special operations movie to being on the same stage with John. Each bullet that comes out of its cartridge with precision and each blow that the soldiers review are very well recreated, the special effects go hand in hand with the theme of the film.
The filming can be summed up in just one word: “neatness”, with so much chaos jumping from one place to another, the use of the uncontrolled hand-held camera is often abused to place more “tension” on the situation. Instead Stefano Sollima and Philippe Rousselot opt for a static action that allows us to observe in more detail what is happening before our eyes.
The moments of tension that we can have in the film manage to capture your full attention, making you aware of every detail that takes place on stage. The photography by Philippe Rousselot captures verbatim the situation John and his team are in.
Conclution
"Tom Clancy: Without Remorse" being a special operations film manages to stand out from the standards of the genre and be one of the best film productions that this 2021 has not given, the bad thing that I can highlight about this film is that it has not been enjoyed in a movie theater.
