From Barangay Punta Silum, we traveled using a motorcycle at about 3 hours and that was a good kind of traveling going to this mountain. Exactly 8 In the morning when we started to take travel together with my Family, and I was very full of excitement yesterday. We only visited our Farm land once a week, sometimes once a month so it will be expected that our farm is already covered with wild grass and twigs.
One of the most fascinating and amazing happens and views here at Mount Balatukan is even the it is alreadh Noontime, still there are fogs can be seen here and as we arrived I seen this foggy place that even the leaves of the trees are nearly covered with fogs, so it is better to bring thick jackets and hats. Some of the trees can be seen here are the Prakkata, Mahogany and Molave trees. Some of this are good for furniture and other construction porpuses like floors and walls. But instead of cutting those trees, we let it live and grows to make our place cool, attractive and avoided soil erosions. This farm of ours are not yet fully developed and cultured by any kinds of crops like Cassava, Bananas, and even coconuts. But we are planning to plant those kinds of valuable plants here at the Farm.
The soil here at the mountain is very fertile because of the organic fertilizer brought from dry leaves of the trees. Prakkata trees also grows here, and this kind of trees are good in Cool places just like here at the mountain. We started to removed the dry grass and twigs and putted in a one place, we don't burned those dry grass instead we used it as an organic fertilizers.
Different kinds of animals like birds, wild cats, wild boars and lizards can be seen and found here but they keep hiding in the bushes and in any forest areas and only comes out at night to hunt for foods. Mount Balatukan is one of the highest mountain here in Manticao, and it can be found near in Balintad. Bandera mountain is similar of Mount balatukan particularly the height but Bandera mountain can be found in Barangay Poblacion Manticao. Only few houses built in this place and all of the residents works are through farming.
This is a perfect spot for farming but the only Problem is it is really far from our House. My Mother's plan was to build a simple house at the top of the mountain and stayed for a week here, but that is still a plan. We spent 4 hours exploring the place and I can truly say that this area is just like a paradise, away from crowded and noisy vehicles. I can also smell and feel the freshness and coolness of the place because of the trees, and aside of that the great Overviews of Manticao.
