A day hasn't gone by I haven't heard someone complain about someone's rewards or who is milking the reward pool. Disagreement is a hot topic on Steem.
The last few days though I have seen something that is quite impressive. The community has come together and is working together to keep the Steem blockchain in the hands of the community.
for making multiple copies of this chartAs you can see above, there are usually not that many witness votes on a daily basis. Even as a top 20 witness I only see a witness vote or two each day, some days none, some days four or more. In the last few days the community has shown incredible support to restore consensus witness.
Justin Sun replaced the top witnesses bots with the help of Binance, Huobi, and Poloniex exchanges. These bots are likely run on a single machine and do not maintain a price feed putting the Steem blockchain at great risk.
Because those exchanges powered up customer funds they lack the liquidity to honor their customers access to their own assets. These exchanges are now pleading for a hard fork on Steem to lower the power down from 13 weeks to just a day or two so they can free those tokens for their customers.
I have seen more witness votes in the last couple days than I have seen in the last year. While I am not a top 20 witness anymore, I am blown away by the communities ability to come together and fight for Steem.
Just yesterday I received a witness vote by an account that was created yesterday and had powered up over 1 million new Steem from Bittrex to help restore consensus witnesses. I have heard from many other users who have bough tens of thousands of Steem to increase their influence.
We may disagree a lot here on Steem, but we truly have a community that will come together in a time of need.
