Since the massive hype of these adorable deformed plastic statuettes in 2015, Funko Pops has become your favorite toy/comic book shop’s regular shelf warmer. They are literally everywhere, especially on conventions that revolves around pop and geek culture. The hype grew and up until this date, and Funko has been milking the toy line with every new release.
Unfortunately, this is not welcomed by everyone in the Toy collection community. Mockery on the toy line and its patrons surfaced around the internet, leaving us the question: Should we really hate Funko Pops?
Personally, I do not hate the line, in fact, I do collect them. So here are 3 reasons why I people are going crazy for these figures.
They literally have EVERYTHING! (And the line keeps on growing)
One of the reasons why the line is so successful is that it has the right to almost everything. From comic book superheroes to movie star, to your favorite series and sports celebrities, Funko has it. This has become the reason why normies enjoyed the line. Funko gave these casual toy enthusiasts to have piece of their favorite pop culture at their work desks and bookshelves.
A casual way to SHOWCASE YOUR PERSONAL FAVORITES!
This reason is my personal favorite. With Funko Pops, you do not need to go deep into amazon or ebay just to find the dated action figures just so you can fill your work. Instead with Funko Pops, people were given the chance to showcase their favorite pop culture icon instantly. Just pick your favorite, put it on your desk, and poof, your desk is now personalized!
Easy to purchase!
Funko Pops are every hot nowadays that almost every hobby shop dedicates a whole wall for it. This makes it very easy for casual collectors to get hold of the figure that they want. Though there are some Pops that are really difficult to secure, due to the date of its release, but now that the line has become such a hit, securing a common pop should be easy as getting a candy from a convenience store.
Bottom line: Let the people waste their money on what they want.
Purist who have been collecting action figures and collectible statues should stop the hate and allow people to enjoy what they want. And for the Funko collectors, stop picking on the other collectors too.
Enjoy and keep collecting whatever you like, nerds!
