Among Christians prayer is one of the most significant things in their lives. Prayer is the way that we communicate with God from our hearts. I learned "Proper Way To Pray" and I know that prayer doesn't have to be the talking too much or big word game. The correct prayer is a humble, honest, faithful and respectful attitude towards God. Therefore, say ye unto the people, Jeremiah 29:12, “Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall pray unto me, and I will hear you.” This reveals that God is always willing to listen to our prayer when it is sincere.
In Matthew 6:5-7 Jesus Christ Himself explained how to pray. He cautioned against praying only to be seen by others, like the hypocrites. God doesn't want boastful prayers. He is looking for prayers that are from a pure and simple heart. Jesus also wanted us not to engage in pointless repetitions. We shouldn't say meaningless words over and over again, assuming that God will respond because of the abundance of words. Rather, prayer should be simple, sincere and heartfelt.
A great lesson I've gleaned from this subject is to pray in faith. I have to have faith when I pray that God is listening to me. Mark 11:24, “What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.” When I was very sad and confused because of the problems around me, it was like a time in my life. I was feeling all alone and sad. One night I did not pray hurriedly, I decided to approach God calmly and sincerely. I prayed and cried out to Him for what was in my heart. I prayed and there was peace in my heart. All my problems didn't go away right away, but my emotional strength grew because I knew God was listening to me.
There is forgiveness as well as the proper way to pray. Jesus said that we should forgive others in Mark 11:25 so that our Heavenly Father will forgive us. This gave me the lesson of how hatred or bitterness can impact prayers. Prayer is not just for God to bless us, but also to transform us into better people.
Another good way of praying is to pray with thanksgiving. We should remember God not only when we need help, We must also acknowledge Him for our lives, our safety, our food, our families and all the other things He provides and gives us every day. We are asked to pray 'with thanksgiving' and make our requests known to God as taught in Philippians 4:6.
In summary, the right method for prayer is prayer that is humble, in faith, honest, forgiving, and giving thanks. God looks at the heart, not on beautiful grammar or long speeches. I learned how to have deeper relation with God and find peace in prayer, even in difficult situations. When I pray correctly, I feel closer to God and that He does care about me.
