After a few days of exploring and learning from this amazingly intriguing website, I am happy to finally sit down and introduce myself. I'm not going to try to write and describe to the community who I am, though...
To loosely quote someone else's wise words, who is merely a function of what, so who I am seems rather irrelevant in comparison to what I am. To any of you, I'm just a collection of pictures with a username.
Chances are, you will never see me, you will never speak to me. You will never hear my voice or feel my heart beat. You will most likely never get to witness the waves of joy, anger, or sorrow that from time to time shine through my eyes. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, nor is it a good thing (well, maybe for some of you it would be), it is merely a cold concrete fact of life in this age of internet. Anyways, back to the question of what I am:
I am a student, a teacher, a friend, a lover, and a fighter. I am an adventurer and explorer, a redneck chemist, and a spiritual warrior. I work as a carpenter's apprentice, a laborer, a retail clerk, and building babysitter (property maintenance), which kind of means you can consider me something of a jack of all trades.
I first heard about the Steem and the Steemit community from a youtube video introducing me to D-Tube, and I followed the rabbit hole here. From what I've seen these past few days I am truly amazed....
As you can already see, I love to write, it is one of my favorite pastimes. I don't do it for a living, or for anyone in particular. I write simply for its own sake, and until now a very select few outside of my close friends have had the chance to read anything I've put to paper. What drew me to Steemit, above all else, is that it seems to be a worthy outlet for my expression.
I dont think anyone truly realized what the creators of Steem really did, or how drastically they changed the internet, when this website went live. It kind of goes without saying that unlike many of the users here, I'm here solely to attempt to make money. True, the opportunity for an extra revenue stream was the main selling point that attracted me to look into this platform. However, what I saw when I came to explore this site was that the system of reward offered here has begun, in a beautiful and organic way, qto coax out and coalesce a community bound together in a spirit of complexity and intelligent creativity that before was greatly hidden behind the superficial and largely fictitious faces of online social media. What I have seen so far in the Steemit community is a source of inspiration and a hub of creativity encouraged by the positive feedback of people from all areas of the world and from all walks of life. Far from the 3 second attention spans of twitter/instagram/facebook and negativity that follows those and many other platforms, it is a like breath of fresh air in a smog-filled city.
I seek to be a part of this spirit, to share my thoughts and words and to help uplift, inspire, and encourage all who see them. I can't promise to post new things every day, only to offer some unique food for thought and try my best to give to you the best of what I can share. Together we can work to help heal our broken world, one inspired soul at a time.
Thank you all for sharing in this journey with me ;)
