Can Good Business also be Good Karma?
There are many services to help minnows grow from little fish into dolphins. Are these services helping the community or turning Steemit in the wrong direction?
If 100 Small Fish Upvote a Post it's worth $1 to $5
That means 100 minnows barely has the effect of 1 Whale vote!
So it stands to reason that minnows will buy a vote for themselves from a service like or
. The bought vote gives a post a better payout and gives the minnow confidence that s/he has made a difference.
Should you buy yourself a vote?
There are benefits and drawbacks.
Benefits are;
- Exposure, a little extra kick to the post could help you get closer to "trending"
- Income, you can get about 110% ROI from your bought upvote
- Self gratification, getting more than a few cents feels good
Drawbacks are;
- You could look "greedy", the services let people know you bought the upvote
- ROI is not guaranteed, you could lose money when you buy an upvote
What can I do that's good business AND good karma?
I have recently stopped buying an upvote for myself. In fact, currently I don't upvote my own posts at all.
Instead, I try to bring value to the community. Because my vote is only worth $0.03 (five with the current delegated power) I will sometimes buy a booster vote for someone else!
When you see an undervalued post, you can submit it to or
to help it get exposure and you can use randowhale or booster to pay it forward! Giving other posters some love gets you noticed by the community. Your generosity will be returned as long as you create quality content!
In summary ...
Don't buy yourself an upvote ... buy yourself good karma by using a bought upvote for someone else!
