Early November I reached out to an organic garden nearby. Wondering if they needed an extra pair of hands. Preparing the garden for winter and the new season, next year. As a tech guy and zero experience with gardening, this whole new world is opening up for me and I am enjoying it :-D
Pruning
It's pretty cool to learn all these new tricks. Like pruning berrie bushes or cherry trees. Or how to propagate strawberries.
Strawberry propagation
Twice a week a class with special six to eight year old kids comes by and learn about nature and how organic gardening works. They learn how to stain, saw and build the containers. About different kind of worms. I wasn´t aware about so may different worms, you got the rain worms, but apparently there are also special compost worms. Who are making the compost "fluffy".
Containers build with the kids
It's very nice to see how these kids enjoy doing it. Even those who are in a wheelchair, with a walker or hearing disabilities. All are excited and want to be part of this experience. So together we build containers on different heights. Probably early next year adjusted work-tables are being set in the garden, so the ones in the wheelchair can experience organic gardening and play with compost and plants as well.
A toad searching for shelter
This is an amazing experience. In such a globalist world, we forget (at least I did) how to be in touch with nature. Create our own food and learn from nature. In my experience it's so much closer to my heart, instead of going to the supermarket or a food-hall with no feeling how the food is being processed. If it's up to me, let's go back, back to our local community.
