About the Mountain Lion
The cougar, also known as the mountain lion is the second largest cat species in the Americas. Mountain lions are highly adaptable to their environment and can be found from northern Canada all the way down to South America. There are six verities of the species, 5 of which live in South America.
The Mountain lion is a solitary creature, spending most of their time alone. The Mountain Lions hunt mostly at night and are highly nocturnal. Females produce a litter of cubs about every 2 - 3 years. Generally, the litter size is from 1 to 6 cubs. Only the females are involved in parenting duties. Cubs can stay with their mother for up to 2 1/2 years, before heading out on their own.
Humans are the only creature that preys upon mountain lions in the wild.
