Great, another excuse to delay my DeFi transition
I'll get there eventually, but using KYCless CEXs are just super convenient. While that complacency has just lost me a couple of hundred bucks on MEXC (as they are now requiring KYC), having a CEX alternative for making a quick trade is very handy. After losing the CEX, I dusted off my old bookmarks and found a page from a year ago or so. This was back when Hive was getting listed at like a dozen places and XT.com was one of them.
Yes, it's a MEXC clone that is pretty much identical in all regards and still doesn't force users to KYC!
As you can see my test transaction of 2 Hive went through and withdrawal as well as trading is not blocked (although I haven't tested them yet, so first try with small amounts!)
I have no idea how long XT.com will have a no KYC policy. But for now there is perhaps a last CEX alternative until Hive gets its DeFi act going (with a decent amount of volume). As soon as we get more trading pairs on Altera and more liquidity there, the transition should be fairly straight forward (although I haven't really tried to get a transaction out).
I just noticed that the 24h volume for Hive is quite curious (not that we can say a lot with such a small time span). But #1 apparently was BitMart - which I have never really checked out before. It also looks like a MEXC clone; is it another no KYC option?! I'll have to check it out... But we can also see that Upbit has gone down to #4 when it used to be #1...
Conclusion
While it's risky dealing with CEXs, there is no arguing about their easy of use. Especially when trying to swap Hive for other Alts or v.v.. On the other hand it is just a matter of time before all CEXs will require ID and we should keep building DeFi which is the only principle that fulfills the true crypto vision.
