I am a Pediatrician and I have never done anything like this, but this summer I took some time off and went with the Imani Milele Children's group to Uganda. We went to a rural village called Rwenjiri, not even searchable on google maps!! The medical team of Americans and Ugandans working together saw 4,000 patients in 5 days in this little cement building without electricity or running water (bring on the hand sanitizer!). And it was the most fantastic, rewarding experience of my life. I mean, I've traveled...I know there are poor kids in Africa...but the warmth and joy these kids showed us was unbelievable!
