Will crime ever be eradicated in our world? I don’t think so, because I believe evil is part of human existence. Since the inception of the world, right from the time of the first humans, Adam and Eve, evil has always existed. So, will there ever be a time when there will be no crime in the world? The answer is a capital no. However, can we say that crime can be reduced? The answer is yes, it can be reduced.
When we talk about crime, it is not limited to murder, theft, and other advanced forms of crime we are familiar with. Any form of manipulation, illegality, or misappropriation of public funds are also crimes.

I was talking to a friend who is older than I am, and we discussed at length why crime is more rampant in the world today compared to the past. I can still vividly remember that when I was a teenager, you hardly heard about kidnapping, but now it has become very rampant and happens on a daily basis. It is even beginning to look normal nowadays. Back then, you would not be afraid to leave your child or ward with a neighbour because you believed they would care for them like their own. But now, that is hardly possible, and it is not even funny anymore. You cannot trust people easily because you never can tell what might happen.
While discussing all these, we reflected on why crime has become so prevalent nowadays, and we realised that it is largely because of people’s love for money. It is not as if people did not love money in the past, but it was not as extreme as it is now. I think most of these problems stem from the fact that people now need money for many things that were not common before. New gadgets, phones, electronics, and modern lifestyles have increased people’s desires, and the internet has also contributed to the situation. It is no longer funny. In the past, when people made money, there was little to spend it on compared to what we have today. Even younger generations are now willing to do almost anything to make money without considering the consequences.
Almost every sector is affected when it comes to crime and illegality, and it has even become normalised nowadays. You go to some offices, and officials demand money before doing their jobs. If you refuse to give them money, you can be sure your work may not be done on time. In some parts of society, we have normalised nonsense in the name of tipping and similar practices.
Should we then say that the high cost of living is what makes people engage in these illegal acts? If workers are paid better, will these atrocities reduce? To some extent, I believe the answer is yes. Life would be better if we all saw crime as an evil that should be eradicated from society for the good of everyone.
