Some groups are based purely to having people meet others and mingle, share their hobbies, careers ideas, and even for business networking.
The social gimicks of meet ups differ. It could be as a big event where everyone present circulates and mingles at a pub or a collection of like minded people as an organism coexisting and adding value to the community.
As I noticed today I was in the midst of people that function as both described above.
