Ok guys, big news in the house. Resignation which everyone's ceased to believe in has happened today: Arsene Wenger, the longest serving manager in EPL history, confirmed that he will step down as Arsenal manager at the end of the season.
With no mention of retiring or further future plans, the 68-years-old French specialist has issued a personal statement via Arsenal.com:
After careful consideration and following discussions with the club, I feel it is the right time for me to step down at the end of the season. I am grateful for having had the privilege to serve the club for so many memorable years. I managed the club with full commitment and integrity. I want to thank the staff, the players, the Directors and the fans who make this club so special. I urge our fans to stand behind the team to finish on a high. To all the Arsenal lovers take care of the values of the club. My love and support for ever.
- Wenger ruled in Arsenal for 22 years. During his reign he bypassed Alex Ferguson by the number of matches in EPL with total count of 823. It’s an absolute record.
- He made 473 wins, 199 draws and have lost for 151 times.
- Arsene won 10 major trophies (3 EPL titles and 7 FA Cups) and 7 English SuperCups with Arsenal.
