Chelsea secured a comparably easy win in Europa League clash against BATE Borisov thanks to impressive performance by midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek. With his only second start of the season, 22-year-old England international spent all the precious 90 minutes on the pitch to show his class in full.
Indeed, the ‘next-Lampard’ came to everyone’s attention on the 2nd minute, producing a fine finish to low cross from the left flank. 6 minutes later, Loftus-Cheek added another goal after the corner kick, literally stealing a goal from goal-drought-sufferer Oliver Giroud.
Third and the best goal of the game came on 54th minute, as refreshed Chelsea launched yet another elegant attack towards opposition’s half. Loftus-Cheek picked up the ball from dispossessed Pedro and carefully launched a precise long shot into the far corner from 25-meter distance.
Despite the poor start, BATE wasn’t that bad later in the game as Belorussian side bagged the consolation goal on 79th minute, but their role in the match was largely reduced to playing without the ball.
All eyes on the new Chelsea hero Loftus-Cheek, who definitely impressed the fans and probably the manager, so there’s a big chance to see his indisputable talent again in the return fixture on November 8th.
