I am personally a Messi fan, but have always admired the Portuguese's player. The reason there is such a rivalry between the 2 is because they are just so much better than the rest of the pack, are neck on neck in records, and are both sensational players for top clubs.
Think of Alain Prost vs Ayrton Senna, one of the main reasons Senna was so good is because he was pushed every inch of the way by the 'professor'. Borg vs McEnroe was another one.
Were thankfully part of another great rivalry, and have the privilege of watching 2 of the greatest ever soccer players bash it out on the world stage. They happen to be neck in neck on their respective accolades, but with Messi still being 2 years younger than Ronaldo, I believe he will shade him on them.
