Monopoly is my favourite game even if I don't get to play it so regularly now because of time factor. I loved it especially as a kid because it was the first time I got to handle a lot of cash, even if it wasn't real money, and acquire properties with it. I loved being a Landlord in my make-believe world and somehow, luck was mostly on my side as I always won my opponents.
Monopoly is a classic board game that has kept me entertained for years. It involves buying, trading, and developing properties, with the goal of bankrupting one's opponents. Its a combination of strategy, negotiation, and luck.
But I hated loosing or going to jail....lols
The first procedure is to place the board on a flat surface, then each player selects a token and place it on the 'GO' space. This game can be played by two three or four persons but I preferred just two, my opponent and I and a neutral person who acted as the banker.
Then each player recieves £500 in different denominations as capital to start business with. Each player is then expected to take turns rolling two dice and moving their tokens the corresponding number of spaces, in clockwise direction. When one lands on an unowned property, one may choose to buy it but if it's an owned property, one pays rent to the owner.
Whenever you pass 'GO', you receive £200 as salary and when you enter jail, you pay a fine to the bank.
The game ends when all but one player are bankrupt, and the remaining player is the winner.
The game's physical components like the colorful money, property cards, and beautiful tokens, all added to the immersive experience I had playing that game. Then there's this sense of achievement from acquiring a complete property set or successfully negotiating a trade.
From playing this game, I learnt the importance of capital investments like owning properties and how they can be one of the best ways to build wealth and achieve financial success.
