The other day I was reading a motivational story and it really inspired me to follow the moral of the story. I actually needed to read that as I have been going through some stressful times in my life. Simple reminders like that can be very helpful to remind you to steer back to the path you were walking upon.
The story relates to how you shouldn’t let a few seconds of distress ruin your entire day because your mental peace is precious and so is your time. It gives a perfect example to make its point and I was really amazed at the simplicity of the concept. If only following these were as simple.
Anyways, let me first share the story with you all before I talk about it further. I forget where I read it but I think the more important part is that I read it in the first place. Do tell me what you think of it as well.
An Inspiring Story
There was once a very wealthy man who had 86400 gold coins. He absolutely loved his gold coins and was a proud man. One day, a thief stole 10 gold coins and ran away before he could steal any more.
When the man came to know about this, he went mad with rage and decided to catch the thief at any cost possible. He tried and tried and spent all of his gold coins and yet he was not able to catch the thief.
At the end, he realized that to get his 10 coins back, he had lost all others too.
Now this is the point were it gets interesting.
We all have 86400 gold coins too, in the form of seconds of a day. Yes, that’s right. We all have 86400 seconds in a day that are very precious as they are passing by very quickly. If someone ruins your mood by either saying something harsh or doing something bad, you feel terrible for some moments.
But would you let those 10 seconds of distress ruin your entire day? Would you want to give any person the ability to hijack your peace and happiness? The obvious answer is NO!
Peace Is Precious
I think have talked about this in one of my earlier posts too. Peace is very precious. In fact it is the fundamental requirement in life and not the destination that most people mistake it for. To achieve anything in life, first we must achieve peace.
Only when you are peaceful are you able to do things properly and give your hundred percent effort. When you are stressed, you are distracted and you are just not able to focus on the things that matter and also the people that matter. This can be very detrimental to your life.
Also, isn’t living peaceful something that literally all of us want? Then why give someone the ability to ruin all the seconds we have just because of some seconds that didn’t go our way. Realize that you have to power to feel what you feel. So, why would you choose anything bad!
