Hey Steemit Community!
I had a pretty cushy life back in Orange County, California. Instead of going into college I joined the military which gave me a taste of adventure that I still have yet to shake..
After I got out I start my life into the world of IT in Colorado and then had to move back home due to family issues. Which then set me on a journey working aboard Cruise Ships for Norwegian Cruise Line. While that was amazing, after a while I missed home and decided to come back. I attempted to be happy and lived on the beach working another IT job but in the end I couldn't take it anymore and needed more Adventure!
Off to Australia! I decided to leave for Australia and ended up spending almost 7 months there. Near the end I had flown my little brother out to stay with me and we had an epic adventure all across Australia for 2 months before we had to come back to reality of California and time to grow up...
Realistically I had everything you could ever want in California, a brand new truck, brand new motorcycle, brand new house, even a dog! I had literally bought EVERYTHING I could think of to try and make myself happy... I was missing two things though that you couldn't buy.. Someone to share it with and an actual adventure!
When I first came up with the idea to live and travel in an RV, it didn’t seem realistic. I was telling everyone, “Oh, it’s only a 30% chance of happening”. But as time went on, that percentage slowly started creeping up. After leaving my job in June, it became a whopping 95% of happening. Which was a tad scary!
So what does that mean? To put it simply, the following had to be done.
- I had to sell my truck so I could purchase a 3500 series truck to tow with.
- I had to sell my house so I could have a savings buffer for this trip.
- I had to sell all of my furniture and house stuff that I had acquired so I could move into an RV.
THEN if all that crazyness actually went to plan I had EVEN MORE stuff to manage!
I had to purchase the truck and RV and all the accessories needed.
Let me tell you, there is a LOT of accessories. From solar power for boon docking, to shelf aids for your fridge (so things don’t fall and break). From learning about 12V vs. 6V deep cycle batteries, to what kind of storage capacity do you want, to figuring out what hitch to purchase. Let’s just say it’s a steep learning curve when it’s coming at you fast.
But it all happened. 100%. I purchased the truck, sold the house, and at 32, moved back in with my Mom. That’s when I began RV shopping (and pulled Laura along with me). Within a few months, I had purchased a Grand Design Momentum and just had to wait for it to get built and shipped out to me.
What happened next was even crazier as I navigated the jungles of Peru to help shed some light on myself with the help of Ayahuasca... I found myself and found the love of my life.. (Who writes blogs way better than I do!)
Next post will be all about Peru and Ayahuasca.
